The Fall 2023 Semi-Annual General Meeting of the Trent Central Student Association was called to order by Association Resource Manager, Wendy Walker, at 4:26 PM on October 17th, twenty-six minutes after its posted start time. 

With the earliest discernible promotion occurring approximately four hours prior to the meeting on the Association’s Instagram, fewer than ten Association members were in attendance at the time of the meeting’s start.

With a threshold of twenty members required to be able to vote on agenda items, the Association were unable to approve their sole item of business—the nomination of Baker Tilly Consulting as their financial auditor for the 2023–24 fiscal year.

Walker encouraged students to attend with a draw of $15 gift cards to Plant Goals, in downtown Peterborough, adding that she had sent someone downstairs in the student centre to “corral people into the call.”

She further encouraged students to engage their peers in the Association’s operating processes, adding at just past 4:15, as the meeting sat at seventeen members, that “if anyone has three friends that like plants and have five minutes, please tell them to join.”

The meeting reached quorum shortly after 4:20, albeit with a brief pause in proceedings following the departure of a student, which once again set the meeting as out-of-order.

After the meeting once again reached quorum at 4:26, and Walker offering Chair’s Remarks, the motion passed unanimously, with one abstention.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:32 PM.
