Two weeks after being told they would need a permit to continue handing out free food to the community, the Peterborough chapter of Food Not Bombs gathered again—as they have for over 18 years—at Confederation Park in defiance of the City’s threats to shut them down. This time, volunteers received warning that next week there would be no warning prior to police intervention.
Helen Cameron Wallis (March 20, 1932 - February 29, 2024), was born in Ottawa, raised a family and enjoyed a varied career in Toronto, after which she settled happily on the bank of her beloved Otonabee River, in Peterborough.

Arthur is sooo back! After a rejuvenating summer sabbatical in the woods, Arthur returns just in time for the school year with more of the hard-hitting community reporting you've come to expect from this small but mighty rag. You'll also find a veritable cornucopia of book and film reviews. This issue also includes a feature article on the Peterborough Museum and Archives' newest exhibit: "To Honour and Respect: Gifts from Michi Saagiig Women to the Prince of Wales, 1860.”
After Arthur's Summer Staycation, we're back and better than ever. With co-editors Abbigale and Evan steering this beloved ship, goddess only knows what they'll get up to! As Volume 59's debut to the wonderful world of campus media, we've packed it full of hot takes, breaking news, a tour around Trent's Symons rather inaccessible campus, and fun and games for all, we have something for everyone in here.
