The Gender and Women Studies department and the Trent Feminist Society have partnered up to present “An Evening with Marina Nemat” on March 20 from 5pm to 7pm in OC, Room 203.
Marina Nemat is an accomplished author, activist, and public speaker who grew up in a complex political setting in her home country of Iran. When she was in her mid-teens, the country was caught up in a sweeping political transformation which succeeded in establishing an Islamic regime and significantly altered the realities of her country’s people.
At the age of 16, Nemat was imprisoned in Iran’s largest political prison, Evin, for more than two years, during which time she witnessed the horrors and tragedies of the fundamentalist beliefs.
In 1992, Nemat came to Canada and since that time, she has written two memoirs of her experience. At this event, she will speak of her experience in Iran, of her time in Canada since then, and of her strong and empowering position as a woman who has and continues to stand up against the calamities she has borne witness to.
This will be an event open to all Trent University students as well as community members, and will take place in OC room 203. Refreshments will be provided and an interactive discussion will follow her talk.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
"Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system."
