Peterborough’s City Council met on the evening of May 23rd to discuss and bring forth amendments to the Homelessness Service Strategy previously adopted on May 8th. The motion, which centres around the implementation of modular housing at 210 Wolfe Street, has been a controversial proposal among both residents in and around Wolfe Street and amongst councillors themselves.
No lesson is learned quickly in municipal politics. Leaving issues to fester year over year, it turns out, is a lesson Council is having great difficulty grasping.
Leo Groarke paddles away from accountability and onto the front page of Arthur's November issue. We have everything here from bathroom politics to the experiences of teaching candidates and how Gzowski College plans to spend its COVID surplus. This issue also featured the resurrection of Lillith - a feminist self-representation insert featuring art, poetry, and prose created in recognition of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
The October issue is out! Get informed about the latest in the Trent and Peterborough-Nogojiwanong community! If you’re looking for TES placement hours, check out the TSL’s advertisement in this issue for some tutoring opportunities! You can find the physical paper around Symons and Traill campuses, as well as downtown!
Rumours of Alfred's death have been greatly exaggerated, as the current insert bears witness to. This horrible little paper, bred in the deepest pits of contempt for ingrained authority, bootlickers, and patsies of all description is the satirical (and deeply stupid) younger brother of Arthur. Be warned: This paper has no redeeming qualities.
In this episode, we focused on Ontario's decisions surrounding Peterborough's proposed Official Plan. We also talked about Council voting against naloxone training, Provincial $2.5M funding for affordable housing, approved changes to Peterborough's "ABOMINATION" intersection, and more!
